Team SAFE-T’s focus on children and youth
emulates successful public outreach programs of
the past, such as recycling and dial 911, in which
students share the lessons they learned in the
classroom with their families and caregivers at
home.
The primary objectives of the 45-minute lessons
in this section are for students, K – 5,
to learn basic first aid, fire safety in the school
and at home, learn about earthquakes, lightning,
and what to do in case of a school shooting or
other disaster that requires going inside to lockdown
and/or shelter in place.
